Vessels with ammonia banned from entering ports of Odesa region — consequences.

Ban on ammonia in ports
As of July 7, the Naval Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces have prohibited the import of nitrogen fertilizers into Ukrainian ports. This applies to substances containing ammonia, which may pose a threat in the event of shelling. As a result, farmers are seeking alternative routes, and there is already a backlog of vessels at the mouth of the Danube.
This was reported by NV Business.
What are the consequences of the ban on fertilizers
Journalists report that the Commander of the Naval Forces of Ukraine, Vice Admiral Oleksiy Neizhpapa, has banned vessels carrying explosive substances from entering Ukrainian ports during the martial law period. The document states that vessels carrying ammonia-based cargo, including anhydrous ammonia, ammonium nitrate, ammonia solutions, and other hazardous mixtures, are prohibited from entering Ukrainian ports.
Despite the fact that the documents have a recommendatory nature, in practice, the acceptance and unloading of such cargo in Ukrainian ports has ceased. Importers of nitrogen fertilizers are currently looking for other delivery routes, particularly by rail through European countries. For Ukrainian farmers, this is a serious challenge, as the fertilizer shortage may lead to price increases during the planting season.
The ban on the import of nitrogen fertilizers with ammonia into Ukrainian ports during martial law complicates the situation for farmers. This may lead to the search for alternative delivery routes for fertilizers and an increase in their prices during the planting season.Read also
