Iron Region - Where the Largest Mining Area is Located in Ukraine.

It is well known in the world that Ukraine is an agricultural state and has many natural resources, including iron ore, which is mined in the mining region. The News.LIVE editorial team provides more details about this.
The main mining region is the Kryvyi Rih iron ore basin (Kryvbas) located in the Dnipropetrovsk region. This is a strip of iron-bearing rocks that stretches more than 100 km along the Inhulets, Saksahan, and Zhovta rivers.
The ore deposits are grouped into 25 fields, and extraction takes place both through open pit and underground methods. The depth of iron ore mining reaches over 3.5 km, with depths ranging from 850 to 1,300 m.
Knowledge about iron ore was acquired as early as the late 18th century, but the development of deposits started much later. The development of this industry became key for establishing Kryvbas as the main mining region of the country.
In 1881, Ukrainian researcher-archaeologist Oleksandr Pol demonstrated a piece of ironstone from Kryvyi Rih in Paris, which sparked interest. This led to the development of the iron ore industry in Ukraine, which was then part of the Russian Empire.
- after the defeat in the Crimean War, the Russian Empire developed railway connections, which contributed to further ore extraction;
- foreign capitals, especially from France, actively invested in this region.
In Ukraine, besides Kryvbas, iron ore is also extracted in three other regions, where significant deposits of this natural resource are located.
Conclusion
Ukraine is an agricultural state with rich underground resources, including iron ore. The Kryvyi Rih iron ore basin is the main mining area in the country, where ore extraction occurs on a large scale and at significant depths. The development of the mining industry in this region began in the 19th century, attracting foreign capital and contributing to the creation of a large number of jobs.Read also
