Internet Without Power: Ukrainians Explained How to Connect xPON.

The Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine has informed Ukrainians on how to use the internet without electricity.
In the conditions of war and constant power outages, the ministry provided advice on using the internet during outages.
'The daily energy system of Ukraine is under fire from the terrorist state. During outages, people are massively switching to mobile internet, and the load is increasing almost tenfold. Therefore, the base stations of mobile operators quickly discharge and the connection deteriorates,' the ministry noted.
Ukrainians are offered to use the fiber optic technology xPON to stay connected and have access to the internet during power outages. It provides uninterrupted internet access for up to 72 hours at speeds of up to 1 Gbit/s without electricity.
To do this, you need to:
- Make sure your provider supports xPON - ask your internet provider if they use this technology. If so, apply for a connection. If not, find another provider that offers this technology.
- Select a connection method: via wires or through a remote PoE block.
Check if you have an ONU modem - contact your provider for this information. Without a modem, the internet will not work during power outages.
A powerful power bank is recommended to ensure power to the router and ONU modem for 72 hours during a power outage.
It was previously reported that new power outage schedules are being introduced in Ukraine.
