In Rivne region, a tanker crashed into a checkpoint: a policeman died (photo).


Today, September 28, in the Rivne region, a traffic accident occurred: a tanker crashed into a checkpoint. As a result, a policeman died, another policeman and a soldier were injured. This was reported by the Rivne region police.
According to law enforcement officials, the accident occurred on the Kyiv-Kovel-Yahodyn highway. The driver of the DAF tanker, a 64-year-old man from Kremenchuk, for unknown reasons, crashed into a checkpoint on the border of Rivne and Zhytomyr regions.
“As a result of the accident, a 40-year-old policeman died. Two more people, a 28-year-old dog handler and a 27-year-old soldier, were seriously injured and are in the hospital. The truck driver received minor injuries, examination showed - he was sober. The tanker was filled with gas, fortunately, it did not depressurize”, - the police statement said.
According to the National Police of Ukraine, the deceased law enforcement officer is Senior Sergeant of Police Serhiy Trum, driver-policeman of Platoon №2 of the convoy service unit of the Rivne region National Police Department.
Serhiy Trum started his career in law enforcement in 2005. He worked in the patrol service, the patrol police response unit, and the convoy service. Since May, he had been seconded to the combat unit of the patrol police “Predator”. However, this night shift was his last.
“Colleagues will remember him as a diligent and responsible worker, a considerate and fair friend, always ready to help. He turned 40 a few days ago. His 16-year-old son is left without a father. We express our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased”, - the police noted.
