Earthquake in the Caribbean Sea
A strong earthquake with a magnitude of 7 on the Richter scale occurred in the Caribbean Sea. The epicenter was located north of Honduras. According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, this earthquake was the strongest in 2021. A tsunami warning was issued but has since been cancelled. It is currently unknown if there were any damages on land as a result of this earthquake.
Earthquakes on the Santorini Islands
Recently, Greece declared a state of emergency on the Santorini islands due to a series of earthquakes. Since February 2, about a hundred tremors have been recorded in the sea between Santorini and the island of Amorgos. The strongest earthquake had a magnitude of 5.2 and occurred on the night of February 5. As a result, safety measures were taken, schools were closed, and rescuers were deployed. Local residents were advised to avoid ports and places where people congregate in buildings.
