New fines for headlights in Ukraine: what nuance can cost drivers 510 hryvnias.

In Ukraine, drivers will be fined for improper use of headlights. From May 1, 2025, a new traffic rule came into force in Ukraine regarding the use of headlights while driving outside populated areas. Now, drivers must constantly use low beam headlights or daytime running lights, regardless of the type of vehicle, season, or weather conditions.
The main goal of this innovation is to improve road safety. Studies conducted in Europe show that using lights during the day can reduce the likelihood of traffic accidents by 10-15%, especially on rural roads with limited visibility.
A fine ranging from 425 to 510 hryvnias is imposed for violating these rules. Police have the right to stop the vehicle and fine the driver on the spot.
Ukrainian drivers now need to pay more attention to the technical condition of their vehicle's lighting equipment. If there are issues with the bulbs, switches, or other components of the lighting system, this could lead to a fine.
The main goal of these changes is to increase the discipline and attentiveness of drivers on the road in exchange for a significant improvement in safety for all participants in traffic. Additional requirements for drivers help reduce the risk of emergency situations, especially on rural highways.
