Paradise Island in Greece Prepares for Devastating Earthquake.

Special units and rescue teams redirected to Santorini due to earthquake threats
In response to the registration of weak underground tremors, the authorities of Greece have decided to send special units, rescue teams, drones, and tents to the island of Santorini, reports The Guardian.
To prevent a possible tsunami, residents and tourists are urged to avoid coastal areas and abandoned buildings. People are also asked to empty swimming pools and refrain from large gatherings in enclosed spaces. All schools on the island are temporarily closed.
«Nothing can be excluded,» said seismology professor Kostas Papazachos. – That's why measures have been taken to mitigate the possible consequences of a strong earthquake».
Greece is located on many faults and often suffers from earthquakes. However, experts believe that the increased seismic activity in Santorini over the last 48 hours, during which more than 200 tremors were recorded, is very serious. They note that these tremors were caused by tectonic rather than volcanic factors.
Research has shown that the crust beneath the seas around Santorini contains many faults. In 1956, the island suffered significant damage after an earthquake measuring over 7 on the Richter scale, which led to a tsunami.
It should be noted that in Turkey, researchers discovered a gigantic fault in the Earth's crust at the junction of the Arabian and Eurasian plates.
