Drone attack on a military airfield in Russia: details and consequences
On August 16, the main intelligence directorate used kamikaze drones to strike the 'Savaskleyka' airfield in the Nizhny Novgorod region of the Russian Federation. According to sources in military intelligence, more details are already known about this attack and its consequences, reports "RBC-Ukraine".
It is noted that as a result of the attack, a MiG-31K/I aircraft was destroyed, two Il-76 aircraft were damaged, and about five more aircraft, presumably also MiG-31K/I, were damaged.
Preliminarily, it is known that on August 14, explosions were heard in the region of Russia where the 'Savaskleyka' airfield is located. MiG-31K fighters capable of carrying 'Kinzhal' missiles take off from this airfield. According to satellite data, a fire was recorded on the territory of the airfield.
Earlier, it was reported that the Security Service, Armed Forces, and intelligence carried out the largest attack on Russian military airfields throughout the conflict. It is noted that this strike was made possible by the use of long-range drones. This information was provided by the SBU.
As a result of the drone attack, warehouse facilities at the Russian 'Savaskleyka' airfield were also damaged.
