Fines for wearing uniforms up to 6800 hryvnias: what is prohibited for Ukrainians.

Sanctions for illegal wearing of military gear in Ukraine
Ukraine has established strict sanctions for illegal wearing of military gear, which include substantial fines and confiscation of uniforms. The law clearly defines the categories of individuals who are authorized to wear military uniforms, such as active military personnel, students of military academies, reservists, conscripts during trainings, students of military profile lyceums, and veterans.
- Active military personnel of the Armed Forces and other units
- Students of military academies and schools
- Reservists during training periods
- Conscripts during military gatherings
- Students of military profile lyceums
- Veterans and retired military personnel
Penalties for violations
For the first violation of illegal wearing of military uniforms, a fine ranging from 2550 to 3400 hryvnias is imposed, along with confiscation of the uniform. A repeated violation within 12 months may result in a fine of 6800 hryvnias or compulsory labor lasting from 30 to 40 hours.
'Upon the second identification of a violation within a year, the fine increases to 6800 hryvnias, with an alternative of community service lasting 30-40 hours', the police clarify.
Monitoring compliance with the law
Law enforcement officers have the right to demand documents from individuals wearing military uniforms and to draw up protocols upon detection of violations. This is one of the measures to protect state symbolism, including memorials and burials of Ukrainian soldiers. Legislative restrictions have been in place since 2019 to prevent abuses with military insignia.
Monitoring of wearing military gear in Ukraine has been mandatory since May 2019. Ukraine has implemented strict sanctions and fines for non-compliance with the rules, contributing to the maintenance of legality and order in the country.Read also
