Medical students will undergo mandatory military medical training – Vereshchuk.

Today, June 4, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted bill No. 13276 concerning amendments to Article 11 of the Law of Ukraine 'On Military Duty and Military Service'. The bill was voted on as the basis. Among the most important changes in the law, the following can be highlighted:
- Opening military medical departments in all medical universities.
- All medical students, regardless of gender, will undergo military medical training.
- Education in military medical departments will be free of charge.
This is a serious strengthening of the capabilities of military medicine in Ukraine.
It is important to note that the request from the Ministry of Defense to the Ministry of Health concerned only specialists in deficit specialties who have undergone training under military medical programs.
Reservation of medical personnel
The government has decided to fully reserve personnel at state and communal medical facilities. This initiative concerns public health institutions, establishments engaged in forensic medical and forensic psychiatric examinations, and blood centers. Previously, it was allowed to reserve only half of the medical staff from the total number of conscripts.
Submissions for the unbooking of medical personnel will be made by the heads of institutions according to the procedure for reserving conscripts during mobilization and wartime. Specialists who fall under mobilization will sign contracts for one year and will work in medical positions in the Armed Forces or other military units.
The Parliament of Ukraine voted for changes in the law on military duty and military service, which includes the opening of military medical departments in medical universities, free military medical training for medical students, and full reservation of medical personnel in public health institutions. Such steps are aimed at strengthening military medicine in Ukraine and meeting the needs of the Armed Forces with qualified personnel in case of mobilization or martial law.Read also
