Trump ready to ramp up sanctions against Russia amid ultimatum from the West – Bloomberg.

The US is considering the possibility of tightening sanctions against the Russian Federation
The United States is exploring the possibility of introducing new sanctions against the Russian Federation due to President Putin's tough demands regarding the situation in Ukraine. President Trump is ready for further restrictions if necessary. The Ukrainian side, along with European allies, has issued an ultimatum to Russia - ceasefire for 30 days, after which a possible increase in sanctions pressure will follow if Russia refuses.
'Coalition of the willing' has clearly defined the deadline of May 12, after which a new stage of sanctions pressure may begin.
Putin is currently ignoring the West's demands, further complicating the international situation. However, he has expressed readiness for direct negotiations with Ukraine in Istanbul.
Possible tightening of sanctions
According to European officials, President Trump supported the allies' position and approved their plans. At the same Time, he failed to fulfill his promise to ensure peace in the first hundred days of his presidency. Now, tightening sanctions pressure is not excluded if Russia is not ready to make concessions and does not cease military actions on the territory of Ukraine.
