Massive destruction from shelling in Russia: Kharkiv is recovering

In the city of Kharkiv, the record number of destructions occurred in April of last year due to the shelling by Russian troops. It has been noted that over 500 buildings were damaged by enemy attacks. Ihor Terekhov, the mayor, reported that repair works are ongoing continuously, and people are working around the clock to eliminate the consequences of the shelling.

The number of shellings in April was the highest since the start of the invasion of Russian troops. However, even more shocking was the extensive destruction from direct hits and explosions. A total of 533 buildings were affected, including destroyed roofs, damaged facades, and broken glass.

The mayor reported that over 10,000 windows were shattered in apartments, on balconies, and in entrances, which is an incredible volume. He emphasized that over 90% of the damaged windows have been repaired, but full glazing is still not completed. This has become a major issue ahead of the winter season.

The mayor of Kharkiv explained that currently all efforts are aimed at completing the restoration work before the cold weather arrives. For this, they are cooperating with funds and providing assistance to residents in making applications for state compensation.

A particular focus is placed on repairing roofs that were damaged during the shelling. In total, 109 out of 147 damaged roofs have been restored. Despite the large volume of work, utility services continue to operate around the clock.

Unfortunately, the Russian Federation will need a lot of Time and casualties to fully capture Ukraine. The progress in their aggressive ambitions is slow, but this does not mean that the people of Ukraine will give in.
