The CEO of the largest insurance company in the USA is shot in New York.


The CEO of UnitedHealthcare, Brian Thompson, was murdered near the New York Hilton Midtown hotel in Manhattan. He was on his way to his company's annual investor conference. The masked assailant waited approximately 10 minutes and opened fire on Thompson before fleeing. The executive was taken to the hospital, but he died from his injuries.
The New York Hilton Midtown condemned the attack, stating that Thompson was not a registered guest. The New York Police Department reported that an investigation is ongoing and so far no one has been arrested.
Suspected murder in Kyiv
A murder also occurred at the Sky Loft hotel in Kyiv. Law enforcement suspects a 30-year-old man in the shooting, during which one person was killed and two others were injured. The perpetrator fled the scene and is currently at large.
UnitedHealthcare belongs to UnitedHealth Group - the largest insurance company in the USA, which ranks eighth in the Fortune Global 500.
