Commenting on his statements regarding a possible U.S. withdrawal from peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, U.S. State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce assured that much of the news on this matter is fake. She referred to Marco Rubio's remarks and noted that the United States will take a step back as a mediator if there is no progress in the talks. The decision to withdraw from negotiations will depend on U.S. President Donald Trump. Bruce also emphasized that the war in Ukraine cannot be resolved through military means and that achieving a compromise is necessary to end the conflict.

Bruce also stressed that the White House has stated multiple times that a military path is not a possible option for victory in the conflict, and that Ukraine will not return to its borders from 2014. The end of the war is only possible through compromise. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine clarified the U.S. State Department's position regarding the role of the mediator.
