During martial law in Ukraine, over 600 groups were exposed that helped men cross the border.

During the martial law in Ukraine, law enforcement officers have identified over 600 organized criminal groups that helped men of conscription age to leave the country and travel abroad. This was stated by the spokesperson of the State Border Guard Service Andrii Demchenko.
According to him, border guards constantly identify such organized groups and closely monitor the situation at the border to prevent illegal crossing and departure of men of conscription age.
Demchenko added that attempts of illegal border crossing are detected every day, but over the past one and a half months, this number has significantly decreased. This was especially noticeable in August.
Currently, the most illegal routes are laid through 'green corridors' to Romania and Moldova. Evaders who cross the border increasingly use various methods to enter another country, such as document forgery and concealment.
Recently, in Ternopil, men who were trafficking evaders across the border were detained. During the searches, cash, cars, and black accounting were seized.
It was also revealed that a mother-in-law and son-in-law tried to leave Ukraine, pretending to be a couple. They claimed that they were going to Germany for medical treatment.
The highest number of indictments against members of groups organizing illegal border crossing has been recorded in the Odessa region since the beginning of 2024.
