Surprises for drivers: Ukrainians explained what the updated traffic rules and technical inspection conceal.

Changes in traffic rules and technical inspection for drivers in Ukraine
Oleksiy Biloshytskyi, the first deputy head of the patrol police department, shared during a telethon about updates in conducting technical inspections of commercial vehicles. Frequent discussions online about new road rules and parking are not relevant, as these norms have been in effect since 2023. Serious changes only affected the technical inspection for commercial transport.
Biloshytskyi emphasized that the bans on stopping on highways have not changed in the last two years. He also noted that the new road sign indicating permitted stopping places on highways introduces stricter penalties.
'For violating the rules regarding stopping places on highways, drivers can receive a fine of 510 hryvnias. This requirement has been in place for 1.5 years,' - explained Biloshytskyi.
After this, mandatory use of low beam headlights in vehicles is actively discussed on social media. This rule was also adopted in 2023, and violating it incurs a fine of 510 hryvnias. In 2024, over 38 thousand drivers were penalized for this violation.
Innovations in mandatory technical inspection
Recently, changes have been implemented in the procedure for mandatory technical inspection of vehicles. These innovations concern only commercial transport and do not affect personal vehicles. Specifically, the new resolution No. 286 of May 19 defines the categories of vehicles subject to enhanced control.
As a result, the technical inspection procedure will now be more detailed, with careful monitoring of each stage to avoid any shortcomings. This is aimed at enhancing road safety and improving transportation conditions.
